The Ideal Self System

neuroconstructionist coaching for rapid, deep and lasting change

A central idea in change theory is that transformation occurs when we engage with our Ideal Self.

Sounds simple enough.

Discover our Ideal Self. Change. Get the life we want.

Sounds a bit too simple to be true.

Now don’t get me wrong, having a compelling vision of our Ideal Self is crucial for motivation and growth, so we can create the life we want. But it’s not enough on its own.

And it certainly isn’t a fixed blueprint waiting to be uncovered.

Over the many years that I was developing the neuroconstructionist approach to change, I realized that…

…the self is not a singular, stable entity. It’s something we build and rebuild over time, shaped by the same “ingredients” or psychological primitives that our brain uses to construct emotion, cognition, and other mental states.

In fact, our identity is dynamically formed through interactions between these brain processes, and social and cultural context.

In other words, the Ideal Self is not discovered—it’s constructed!

Now, that doesn’t mean the vision of our future self is a mere fantasy.

A clear, emotionally compelling vision can shape our brain’s networks, “rewire” habitual patterns, and guide intentional change. But for transformation to be real and lasting, we need more than just a dream of who we want to be.

We need to actively construct it.

The problem is, most traditional self-development approaches don’t account for how we actually build a new sense of self. They focus on goals, habits, and behaviors—but neglect the deeper psychological processes that make change sustainable.

That’s why I developed The Ideal Self System—a transformative approach grounded in modern neuroscience and psychological construction, designed to help you intentionally shape the evolving self.

At the conclusion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Define and describe different versions of the self that play significant roles in our life.
  • Explain the importance of personal vision, including purpose/meaning, core values, and aspirational identities.
  • Describe the roles that emotional attractors and the Ideal Self play in helping people change.
  • Use a neuroscience-based approach when working with values and vision, as well as co-creating the relationship.
  • Coach with curiosity and facilitate change by working with components of the Self.

I'll walk you through how to help your clients construct an Ideal Self based on their vision, values, and aspirations—so they can create the life they truly want.
